Addicted to Action Flicks

The Transporter 3 was on tonight, and lord help me but I couldn’t help but watch it. Again. There’s just something so deliciously yummy about Jason Statham! Now I’ll be the first to admit, there’s quite a few sarcastic eye rolls at moments in the plot (jumping the car onto the train, for one). Definitely some Hollywood liberties taken here and there with this flick, but if you’re looking for a sexy alpha male (Frank Martin is most definitely the epitome of ‘sexy alpha male’) and some non-stop action, it’s a movie just for you!
I don’t know why I’ve never been a fan of the chick flick. I just can’t seem to get myself into the soppy tear-jerkers. Half the time I’ll even refuse to see them! I filled out a Facebook list once (one of those notes where you list all the movies you’ve seen). DH couldn’t figure out how he’d seen The Notebook and I hadn’t! I have no idea who he saw it with, but it wasn’t me! ^_^
Yes, I write romance, but the addiction for me is the action. If you give me sexy man + strong heroine + explosions, I’m there! The attraction is so ingraned in my being, it’s probably the only reason I can honestly say I’m addicted to Romantic suspense.
And speaking of Romantic Suspense – True Deceit - my current work-in-progress, finished third overall in the Toronto Romance Writers Golden Opportunity Contest. I’m ecstatic to have that little accolade to add to my credentials! Second Chances finaled in the Silicon Valley RWA Gotcha Contest. That’s two books and two finalist awards. I’m good with that math!
Hugs!

I am entirely the same way, though I don’t write a lot of action scenes. I have a running list of books I just haven’t read that “all romance writers should read,” or so I’ve been told. I’ve NEVER read Pride & Prejudice (with or without zombies); Gone with the Wind (it’s on my TBR pile); anything by any of the Bronte sisters; Wuthering Heights; Twilight (because that’s what everyone’s crazy about these days and I just can’t bring myself to it)… The list goes on and on.
So I say, you go, girl. Romance writers aren’t all made up the same way, and we don’t all have the same tastes. That’s what makes the genre successful: the common desire for romance, however you interpret it, reaches every single niche!

Congrats on the awards and I must say I’m another fan of the action flick rather than the chick flick. It has to have a sexy guy in it though. Nothing wrong with a bit of eye candy for us girls. Why do I like the action? Guess if cos’ I dream I’m the one that helps the hero lick his wounds (so to speak) – and doesn’t everyone just love a hero anyway?
